Redress Focus Groups FAQs

How do I join a group?

Check out our Volunteers page for more information. You can also join any of our groups by contacting us here on the website through our contact us page or by emailing us on info@redressfocusgroups.ie

What happens after I sign up to a group?

When we receive your email address we will add you to our database of volunteers. We will then pass your information to the group you are joining. You will receive an email welcoming you in to this group. This will connect you with all the volunteers on that group and from here the group will correspond with you via emails or add you to their whatsapp group if they have one.

I’m not sure if I can commit to volunteering in a group, I have so much on my plate. Is it very time consuming?

Each group is free to work in whatever way suits the group best. Working together means understanding the stresses and strains of everyone’s personal situations. Within the groups ideas are discussed and pathways are forged on how to resolve the issue of that particular group. Tasks can be divided out between all group members so that no one person in the group is left with more work than anyone else. The groups may decide to have meetings every now and then to keep momentum going and to work through tasks and this can be online or in person, that’s up to you and your group members. Groups can also appoint a group leader and change this monthly or whatever works best.

How or where do we update on the work we are doing in our group?

Email a paragraph or two to us at info@redressfocusgroups.ie. You can send an update at any time. We will use this info to publicise the work we’re doing on our website and on social media. Transparency is very important to what we do at Redress Focus Groups as we believe this crisis belongs to us, the people, the victims of this crisis. So it’s great to be able to update everyone and give a little hope. More knowledge, less anxiety. We love sharing the hard work the volunteers are doing so any time you have a post let us know and we will make a poster for you and post it out there.

Do you have meetings for the general public?

Yes. We hold Update & Support meetings every six weeks or so. This is a great opportunity for property owners as well as volunteers to come together, feel supported, support others, feel empowered and leave with a little hope in their heart.

Do volunteers attend the public update & support meetings?

Yes, please do. We encourage all volunteers to come to these meetings and give an update on the great work your group is doing. Each group has 10 minutes to give their update so that after the updates we can use the rest of the time for everybody there to join in a discussion and chat with a cuppa. Support is another of Redress Focus Groups top priorities.

How often are public meetings held?

Every 6 weeks or so we hold our Update & Support Meetings. Keep an eye out for dates of the next meeting dates on our website and social media pages.

Where are the public update & support meetings held?

We are very lucky to have such amazing support in our community from the beautiful An Grianan Hotel in Burt. They have allowed us to host so many meetings there free of charge since we first began In january 2023 and they have gone above and beyond to accommodate us. They are a true supporter of Redress Focus Groups and an example of what can be achieved when we all work together. As a thank you from all of us we should support them as much as we can. Their food is delicious! Thank you to An Grianan and all the wonderful staff.

In the future we intend to hold support meetings in different parts of the county and also online via Zoom. We are still growing and we’re only getting started so bear with us and rest assured we will continue to to try to help and support everyone as time goes on.
