Health Impacts Group
Back to Focus Groups Overview
The impact of the defective block crisis on the physical health of homeowners is wide ranging. Not only are we living in fear in unsafe homes but we are also dealing with serious mould and other issues, the implications of which are still unknown.
What we do know is that the damage this can do is and will be enormous and it is vitally important that this is looked into, researched and monitored.
This group has been working hard on these issues and will continue to endeavour to embark on researching and highlighting the awful health impacts many are living with and will be as time goes on due to mould caused by defective blocks.
We appeal to all health professionals if they can to offer some time to this focus group as their expertise would be greatly appreciated and invaluable.

PHYSICAL HEALTH IMPACT GROUP FAQs
What research has been done by government on this issue to date?
To date we are not aware of any research, studies or published findings by government around the issue of health and people still living in defective block homes during this Crisis
What work have the Health Focus Group been doing and how can I get involved?
The group are continuing to try to get a meeting with the minister for health and it is looking more positive that it first did with the department initially deflecting saying this was a department of housing issue. They seem to be recognising that this is indeed a Dept of health issue and work is ongoing here. Please join the health group if you can lend to this side of things at all. George Hill will be continuing his Health & Safety assessments of defective block homes and is hoping to assess up to 50 homes. George will update his findings when the assessments are complete.
RTE’s PrimeTime have recently looked in to the severe mould issue some homeoweners are living with and thousands face due to defective concrete blocks but much more in depth research is urgently needed in to this so please consider getting involved if you can help in this area.
