A CANCER-stricken granny in her 70s whose home is falling down because of mica took two jobs just so she could stand a chance of applying for the State’s crumbling block scheme.

And a dad in his 60s insists homeowners need as much as €100,000 upfront just to get started, complaining: “Who’s going to lend me that two years out from retirement?”
