Irish Sun: Mica campaigners fear ‘tsunami of homelessness’ as families forced to leave defective homes have ‘nowhere to go’

MICA campaigners fear a “tsunami of homelessness” as accommodation problems strikes hard-hit families who’ve had to leave their defective homes. Some 7,500 homes will benefit after the Government agreed a revised rebuilding scheme last year.

Micheal Martin previously warned that housing shortages will increase challenges with the redress scheme.

He said: “We will work with local authorities there and those housing agencies to see what we can do in the interim.

“There’s no super solution to that, we just have to work with people and, if we can, work things through.”

And campaigners said alternative accommodation is just unavailable as families try to find somewhere to live while work is carried out.
